Why Visitors Leave Your Website Without Sending Enquiries: 13 Conversion Fixes

One common reason your website gets visitors but no enquiries is weak web copy. For example, your headline doesn’t clearly state what you do. Instead, it uses generic phrases that every other website could write, such as We are a leading provider, without any concrete evidence to support such claims.

Visitors read that headline and ask: leading provider of what? Since when? And on which credentials do you claim to be the leading provider? Your web copy answers none of these questions. As a result, you fail to build trust with readers, and they close the tab.

Weak copy is only one of the problems, though. This guide covers 13 reasons your website gets visitors but no enquiries, with a fix for each reason, so you can start turning traffic into conversations with buyers.

13 Fixes for a Website With Visitors but No Enquiries, Ranked by Priority

If your website gets visitors but no enquiries, start with Fix #1, because Fixes 1–4 take one afternoon and cost nothing. Fixes 9–11 may need help from a developer. The table below shows where each fix sits, so you can plan the work before you open your website editor.

Fixes 1–4: Quick Wins That Turn Visitors Into Enquiries in One Afternoon

Fix #1: Your homepage headline is not clear about what you do

The problem: A visitor reads your homepage for a few seconds and cannot tell what you do, who you serve, or why they should choose you.

The fix: Rewrite the headline using this pattern:

[What you do] for [who] so they can [outcome].

Then add one subheadline that makes your company unique, using a specific fact no competitor can copy. If writing is not your strength, our copywriting services in Dubai can draft the headline for you.

  • Write: websites for Dubai clinics, built to fill your appointment calendar
  • Don’t write: Excellence in Every Project

How to test it: Show your homepage for five seconds to a stranger, then close the browser tab. Ask the stranger what you do, who you serve, and why to choose you. If the stranger hesitates on any answer, rewrite the headline.

Fix #2: Your CTAs are weak or missing

The problem: You either place CTAs in the wrong places, or the wording on them is unclear.

The fix: Always put CTAs above the fold on mobile, so readers can see them on the first screen without scrolling. Use verbs that describe what happens next, such as Get a Quote, Book a Call, or Message Us on WhatsApp, not Submit or Contact. Make each button big enough to tap; Google’s web.dev guidance recommends tap targets of around 48 pixels.

Additionally, if your business operates in the UAE, add a WhatsApp chat CTA, since many UAE buyers would rather send a WhatsApp message than fill in a form. Our guide to the WhatsApp Business API explains how to connect WhatsApp to your website and CRM.

Fix #3: Too many buttons compete for attention

The problem: A page shows Get a Quote, View Portfolio, Download Brochure, and Follow Us at equal size. No button stands out, so visitors click none.

The fix: Your primary and most important CTA should sit at the top as a large, high-contrast button. Secondary buttons should be smaller than your primary CTA.

For example, if Get a Free Quote is your primary CTA, make it large and put it above the fold. All the secondary buttons, such as See Our Work, should be smaller than that.

Fix #4: Your first screen shows no proof

The problem: The first screen is the screen a user sees when they open your website or land on it. If it shows nothing useful and the user has to scroll down to find a reason to trust you, the page has failed.

The fix: Put these elements on your first screen:

  • Your Google rating and review count next to the headline.
  • Two or three genuine reviews, each showing the reviewer’s first name and the service purchased.
  • Logos of clients who gave you permission to display their logo.
  • If your business works in a regulated UAE sector, show the relevant licence or accreditation, such as DHA or DOH for healthcare.

Fixes 5–8: Proof and Speed Problems That Stop Visitors Sending Enquiries

Fix #5: Your proof appears after the invite

The problem: You show your Google ratings, genuine reviews, client logos, and accreditation only after a big Get a Free Quote button. Instead, this proof should appear first, with the CTA right next to it or immediately after it.

The fix: Reverse the order. Proof comes before the ask, so move the testimonials and case studies higher up the page. Additionally, right under the CTA button, add one line that answers the visitor’s last doubt, such as your response time and a no-spam promise.

Put proof first, then one primary CTA, then a line that removes the last doubt.

Fix #6: Your case studies list no numbers for results

The problem: Your portfolio shows pretty screenshots, but nothing about what changed for the client’s business.

The fix: Each case study should answer three questions: what was broken, what you changed, and what happened after. Quote the relevant metrics and numbers for each answer. Before-and-after metrics beat adjectives and pretty screenshots every time, and you can see this format in the Digital Gravity case studies.

Fix #7: Missing security signals at checkout (for ecommerce websites)

The problem: You don’t show a clear security confirmation near the checkout, backed by recognisable security credentials. Consequently, skeptical shoppers doubt your payment security and leave at checkout.

The fix: Implement these near the checkout:

  • Show accepted payment methods on the checkout page, including local instalment options like Tabby or Tamara if you offer them.
  • Show your returns policy and a real support contact.
  • Run the whole site on HTTPS so browsers show no security warnings.

If your store needs a rebuild to support these, our ecommerce web development team can help.

Fix #8: Pages load slowly (especially on phones)

The problem: Your page takes several seconds to show useful content, so visitors leave before content appears. Since most buyers browse websites on their phones, you lose a large share of traffic that could convert.

The fix: Oversized images slow most pages. Compress image files and save them in WebP, a smaller format, for the biggest speed gain. A slow website gets visitors but few enquiries, so speed matters. Our detailed guide to website page speed covers the other common causes.

Also run your top landing pages through Google’s free PageSpeed Insights and read the mobile scores. Google’s targets for good Core Web Vitals are:

  • The main content loads within 2.5 seconds (LCP).
  • The page responds to taps within 200 milliseconds (INP).
  • The layout shift score is 0.1 or lower (CLS).

Fixes 9–11: Technical and Structure Fixes That May Need a Developer

Fix #9: Old add-ons slow your pages

The problem: Chat widgets, tracking pixels, sliders, and plugins pile up over the years. These add-ons slow page loading.

The fix: Implement these fixes, or ask a web development team to do them for you:

  • List every add-on script on your site, then remove the unused scripts.
  • Load below-screen images on scroll.
  • Set image width and height so the layout stays still while the images finish loading.

Fix #10: Unclear menus

The problem: Visitors cannot find your services or phone number within two clicks from the homepage.

The fix: Implement the following fixes:

  • For bilingual Arabic and English websites, test the full menu in right-to-left layout, because English menus often break when the layout reverses.
  • Keep top-level navigation to about five to seven items.
  • Make the phone number tappable in the header on every page.
  • Group your services in the menu by the problem each service solves for customers.

Fix #11: Your pages end without a next step

The problem: Someone reads a service page to the end and finds nothing telling them what to do next, because there is no link to a next step.

The fix: End each page with a button to the next step. Send visitors from a service page to a relevant case study, then to the contact page. Similarly, a blog post that answers a question should link to the service that solves the reader’s problem. Dead-end pages are a quiet reason a website gets visitors but no enquiries.

Fixes 12–13: Form and Search Fixes That Win More Enquiries From Visitors

Fix #12: Your form requires too many fields

The problem: Visitors browsing your website on a phone face eight required fields, a budget menu, and a captcha test, so they simply give up.

The fix: Implement the following fixes:

  • Require only three or four fields, such as name, phone number or email, and one message.
  • Mark other fields optional.
  • Send a test enquiry from your phone and time the process.
  • If you need budget or timeline details, ask for them on the follow-up call, because the form only exists to start the conversation, not to complete it.

Fix #13: Visitors land on pages that ignore their search

The problem: This is an intent mismatch and an SEO issue. Your website gets visitors and the traffic looks healthy, but no enquiries arrive because the pages visitors land on do not answer the search that brought them.

The fix: Implement the following fixes:

  • Open the Performance report in Google Search Console (free). Then check which searches bring visitors to each page and whether the page answers those searches.
  • If visitors searching for a service land on your About page or an old blog post, link those pages to the matching service page. Then rewrite the service page so it answers the visitor’s search. Our SEO services in Dubai handle this mapping for you.
  • For paid ads, send every ad group to the page that matches the promise made in the ad. Our breakdown of Google Ads costs in Dubai shows why a mismatched landing page wastes budget.

Run a 4-Minute Audit to See Why Visitors Send No Enquiries

Run these four checks on your homepage and on the service page with the most visitors:

1- Five-second test: Read only the headline and subheadline. Do they say who the page is for and what problem it solves? If not, rewrite them.

2- Thumb test: On your phone, can you see a CTA on the first screen without scrolling? If not, move the CTA higher.

3- Speed test: Run PageSpeed Insights on mobile. Is LCP 2.5 seconds or less? If yes, well and good. If not, start by optimising images the way we described above.

4- Form test: Count the required fields. If there are more than four, cut them to three or four, and make the rest optional.

Free Tools to Use

1- Google Search Console: Use it to check which searches bring visitors, and to which pages.

2- Google Analytics 4: Use it to check where visitors drop off, and which pages produce enquiries. Our guide to mastering GA4 walks through the setup.

3- PageSpeed Insights: Use it to check mobile speed and Core Web Vitals.

4- Microsoft Clarity: Use it to get free heatmaps and session recordings, so you can watch where people hesitate on your page.

FAQs

What conversion rate should a UAE business website aim to reach?

No reliable public benchmark exists for UAE websites. The Unbounce Conversion Benchmark Report found a 6.6% median conversion rate across more than 41,000 landing pages. Measure your own GA4 baseline first, then aim to beat it.

How soon do conversion fixes raise my enquiries?

A clearer headline, a visible call-to-action button, or a shorter form can change your enquiries within weeks. Speed and structural fixes take longer, but they usually raise enquiries on every page at once.

Should I fix low enquiries before running paid campaigns?

Yes, in most cases. You waste ad money when more visitors reach a page that gets few enquiries. Fix the obvious problems first.

Which quick fix can raise my website enquiries today?

Open your homepage on your phone. If it shows no contact button before scrolling, add one first. Then delete the optional fields from your contact form. You need no developer for either change.

Do I need a developer to fix low enquiries?

Not for most problems. You can change headlines, button text, form fields, reviews, and menu labels in your website editor yourself. However, slow loading caused by scripts, hosting, or theme code usually needs a developer.

How do I track enquiries in Google Analytics 4?

In GA4, mark the actions you want as key events, such as a form submission, a phone number click, or a WhatsApp button click. Without key events, you cannot tell whether a change worked.

How does conversion rate differ from GA4 bounce rate?

Conversion rate is the share of visitors who take the action you want, such as submitting a form. GA4 bounce rate is the share of sessions that were not engaged: under 10 seconds, one page viewed, and no key event.
